"So. Destination Weddings in NYC, why do couples do it?

Me: “Why would you fly to NYC in February to get married in NYC?”Client: “Because we love it.”

So What Actually is a Destination Wedding?

A destination wedding is defined as a wedding which is hosted in a location of the betrotheds' choice. However, as I did a little more digging, I found there is an proper definition to the term "destination wedding". Exactly, this states that a destination wedding is defined as “a wedding where the couple marries at minimum of 100 miles from where they reside.”

Of course, there are cities with better weather, reputations and parking.

But wow, New York grabs a hold of you. It makes your soul vibrate and your heart race. There is nowhere like it on earth. Couples who get married in NYC are uncompromising, romantic and daring. They take life by the wings and kick boredom to the curb. They are fun, stylish and creative. Furthermore, these clients are everything we could ask for.

So, anyway you slice it, the ultimate urban destination weddings in NYC happen all year round. If you’re in a winter parka, or a summer slip dress, it makes no difference. NYC hosts thousands of weddings per week all year round. Even the fact that we have gotten to  shoot just some of them, as a result, makes us incredibly happy, honored, humbled.

To enumerate the backstories of some of our creative couples:

  • Our clients from LA who wanted to get married near the Cyclone.
  • Classical musicians who flew here in February to elope at NYC City Hall.
  • A couple from Israel who got married in NYC so his expat brother could stand up for him.
  • German bankers who planned their wedding around a meeting they both had on Wall Street the previous week.
  • Toronto residents who had a moonlight ceremony (and dinner for eight) at Shake Shack in Madison Square Park.  (They got their cake at Italy across the street five minutes before the ceremony).

The list goes on.

Clearly, no two Destination weddings in NYC are alike. Two couples could throw identical fates at identical venues and the feeling of each will be fully unique of each other. Nevertheless, e are honored and humbled by the amount of requests we get to handle end to end coverage of all these beautiful weddings. We handle photo, video, editing, albums and even frame orders for you. Furthermore, we also offer film packages for the purists.
