Central Park Family Shoot and a Chunky COVID Baby
Central Park Family Shoot. And, a Chunky COVID Baby.
Central Park Family Shoot. I have been obsessed with my Client’s COVID babies. Usually, I come shoot the maternity. Then I often shoot these families as soon as the baby is born. However, the virus changed all of that. For this definition, I define a COVID baby as a baby my past clients have had during the pandemic and subsequent shut down.
They struggled with birth plans, fled to cities with support partner allowances, and in the end, some had to deliver alone with the other parent on Face Time. This baby was born the day of the shut down, and he got in just under the wire. He was a happy, healthy, bouncy little guy with his dad’s blue eyes and his mom’s can-do attitude. Little Alec is clearly a fella who likes to have fun. Hence my idea to shoot everyone in the crunchy leaves of Central Park. A fall fun family shoot. What could be better?
Everyone was cozy, bundled and ready for their close up, on a brisk, sunny Friday in Central Park.
My only concerned was “will this baby let me play with him?”. And he did! We had the best time. Of course, shooting came first, but then he put his french bread roll hand on my leg and handed me a toy and that was it. The family told me they were planning to have another and I said “Great! Then we can do this again!”. Lastly, and the best part, was at the end of the hour (you only get an hour with a baby) we took an Uber to the scene of the crime, where he proposed to her 5 years ago.
It was my absolute joy to photograph this lovely family on the same spot where dad proposed to mom. We shot this till the little guy had it, then we took everyone to Eataly across the street. We had a repeat of their first married espresso at the coffee bar there. And the little guy got to have a cookie. And all was as it should be.
Enjoy this portrait session of a lovely, young family. All shot on location in Central Park.
