Artist Series Painter Jessie Mann
Artist Series Painter Jessie Mann
Dear Collectors,
There is someone you need to know. Her name is Jessie Mann and she is one hell of an important painter.
Artist Series Painter Jessie Mann So, she is is a painter, writer and conceptual artist. Many of her paintings have been featured in Prox Art, Washington City Paper, The Times Union, and The Roanoke Times. Furthermore, Jessie has collaborated with many artists. To enumerate: Katy Grannan, Justine Kurland, Mary Chiarmonte and yes, even me, Angela Cappetta. Selections from one of her many collaborations are even in the permanent collections of The Art Institute of Chicago, the Getty, and The Florida Museum of Photographic Arts.
So, to elaborate on the concept of collaboration, Jessie Mann and Liz Liguori are former partners. Once, as a couple, they entwined their love into Electromagnetograms. This long term study is one such collaboration. For example, she has said: “Just as painting, once freed from its responsibility to accurately reflect the world. [It has] expanded into impressionism and then abstraction. Uniquely, traditional photography has likewise expanded its repertoire of image making into impressionism and abstraction,” says Mann and Liguori. The pictures were shown at Washington and Lee University.
Jessie means business.
As for me, I’m just a collector. I love Jessie’s work. And I want it around me at all times. Also, I have been acquiring her work by hook or by crook over the years. I’ve bought it, traded for it and even been gifted her extraordinary work
In like fashion, I hope you enjoy this selection of a few of my favorites. I hope they reveal something special to you as they have to me.
Love,
Angela
