Words and Pictures by Angela Cappetta
Here’s a nifty article about me on the famed photography blog Lenscratch.
To enumerate: a screen grab interview and article Aline Smithson was kind enough to write.
New York photographer,
Angela Cappetta is fully engaged in her career. She shoots commercial, wedding, fine art and editorial work. Angela uses her abilities as an observer to inform her projects. Her series Love Letters to the Mountains will be exhibited this fall. Furthermore, her series Glendalis has won many awards. It even landed Angela a NYFA fellowship.
Her work appears in countless publications. And her images are held in significant museum collections.
Furthermore, the work shown here is from a fine art project titled Family, Etc. In it, Angela shows us slices of a panorama format. It allows her to bring moments into a cinematic scale.
So, while photographing projects I gave myself, I’d often turn the camera onto my family. Eventually,I began printing the pictures. and I disciplined myself into editing the contact sheets. I am charmed, and a little frightened, by how photogenic my family is.
My family’s nothings became somethings. Their banality and extremes fascinate me. So, they’re used to cameras. The blush is off the rose at this point.
They know they are getting their picture taken. It’s gonna happen. However, at least they do things that I like.
