Scout Willis at NYFW
Commissioned by T Magazine
I had the ultimate privilege of being the exclusive photographer for Scout WIllis’ debut line at NYFW. She’s amazing and I loved working with her. Here’s what the New York Times had to say about her clothing and process “The collection is all made and designed in Los Angeles, where Willis lives and works. “I think there’s an easiness and casualness that people in New York don’t necessarily allow themselves,” she said of the collection. “But I like juxtaposing that with a certain sleekness, like all of these are things you could wear at home in your PJs, or you could dress it up and use it as a gown for a black tie situation. I like that it can be whatever you want it to be.”
“The clothes are indicative of her personal style, Willis said, and her sisters Rumer and Tallulah are her muses. “Girls — no matter what they don’t like about their bodies — they love their shoulders. I just wanted to play to the things that I know about women, because it’s about girls feeling comfortable and sexy.”
Behind the Scenes NYFW
Garment District
Feeling NYFW coming on? Take a look at this behind the scenes portfolio of a designer’s work getting runway ready. It isn’t all as pretty as you think. There is so much work that goes into making a garment. It is obvious that this particular portfolio shown is among one of the last steps. The patterns are templated into samples. Furthermore, there is writing on the pieces indicating what changes need to be made. The tailor is scissors and pins on the ready to make all the minute changes that makes something look and feel gorgeous on the wearer.
Shot entirely on location in the Garment District of NYC.
