Throughout our cannon of work, shooting NYC wedding photography, destination wedding photography, New York City Hall wedding photography and even micro weddings in New York, we have seen just about every style of dress imaginable. From the beach to the mountains and every thing in between, we are so moved by how versatile these designs are, that we wanted to create an article about them. First, let's break it down into these four basic styles:
A-line Silhouette.

The classic A line looks great on everyone. Characteristically, it has a simple top the pinches in at the waist with a full and loose skirt at the bottom. You don't have to have killer curves to rock it, but it helps. As a culture, seen this silhouette throughout the ages, from Grace Kelly's once-in-a-lifetime A line wedding dress, to Kate Middleton's simple, elegant A-line wedding gown. And you don't have to be a blue blood to make this silhouette gorgeous. This is because it is hard for this gown style not to make everyone look stunning. You can see for example, here, on our bride, Amy. Dress it up for black tie or down for the beach, this silhouette never disappoints.

A ballgown is an amped up version of the Aline. With a smaller top and bigger, fuller skirt, it makes quite a statement. Although the ballgown wedding dress tends to be reserved for formal affairs, it has transitioned into the fun and funky side of things. You can see it gorgeously on our bride, Brooke. Paired with bare shoulders, her olive skin, and a Juliet cap, the retro skew on this look is flawless with their Coney Island destination.

A sheath is a minimal look, for sure. It enhances the micro moments of the wedding dress experience. It is perfect for a smaller frame, on a girl who would be swallowed up by a bigger dress. Body conscious but still appropriate, we love this look with fresh flowers in the hair for the country, and a Chapel length veil for the city.
Tea Length Silhouette.
Finally we end with the shortest and the sweetest, the tea length wedding dress! It goes oh-so-well with a day time wedding. Or, when you just want to show off a little leg. Furthermore, it is also a fun style to change into. Especially if the first look of your wedding has a bigger, fuller skirt. So, to enumerate: tea length wedding dresses are shorter than an ankle-length dress. They stop right around the knee. Tea length dresses are a more playful, fun alternative to a more formal, longer look.
This style of dress is easy to nab on Ebay for very little since this was a popular style in the 50's.

However, the vintage sizes are pretty small and the fabric is unforgiving. If you want a more modern tea length dress, however, opt for the newer fabrics with a bit of give and breathability and stay off of Ebay.
