i3 Photo Lecture: Angela Cappetta

Jun 11, 2024; 7:00 - 8:30pm

Father and daughter in their backyard shed, Lower East Side, NYC.

From the SVA i3 lecture series website:

“MPS Digital Photography presents a talk with Angela Cappetta, a photographer known for her shape-shifting brand of documentary-style work. Cappetta’s work is in museums and private collections worldwide. She is a NYFA Fellow, three-time MacDowell Fellow and has been profiled in The New Yorker. Cappetta’s trademark edgy warmth has sent her on assignments all over the world. This rare, fine art to commercial flexibility has also put Cappetta behind the scenes at New York Fashion Week for titles like T Magazine and Refinery 29. Furthermore, Cappetta has secured a respected niche as an acclaimed documentary-style wedding photographer. She is currently at work on her first monograph with L’Artiere Edizioni called Glendalis, to be released at Paris Photo. In it, Cappetta, herself a youngest daughter, traces the life of a multigenerational family on the edge of Lower East Side gentrification through the eyes of their youngest daughter.

Starting in 2011 and after over 200 lectures, the i3: Images, Ideas, Inspiration Lecture series continues to feature leading photographers, artists, editors, gallerists and industry experts. Our Spring 2024 i3 Lecture season is curated and hosted by MPS Digital Photography faculty member Julie Grahame. Most past lectures are available on YouTube and Vimeo.”
