Landscape Film Photography

with analog cameras and real film.

A love letter to the mountains of Medusa, NY.

This work is a reflection of the rural landscape of the upstate NY hamlet (an unincorporated town) of Medusa. Part of the village of Rensselaerville, the home of Richard Prince, it is a working farm community whose specialty crop is award-winning garlic.

Medusa is draped across a valley near Windham Mountain. The pictures themselves is a color essay of rural days and nights and is steeped in the influence of William Carlos Williams an Milton Avery. Printed from hand-processed negatives on RA4 paper. Shot mostly in early morning and late afternoon.

So, why a Leica? Any Leica M series makes a good landscape camera. Moreover, I enjoy using rangefinders-being able to see around the bright lines of the frame is more fun than looking through a lens. Some originals and prints are available for sale on Saatchi Art.
